Wow companion app cant select character11/30/2023 ![]() I have spent 45 minutes in a lobby waiting for a match to start in the past. ![]() The first problem is the lobby wait times. I believe a lot of this problem with CCC stems from unfortunate Arena lobby design. I mean what do you expect to happen when you stick up to 20 people in close proximity and have them sometimes wait up to 30 mins for a game to start? It is almost like the arena lobbies were designed to cultivate communication nonsense overload. This is a rather lazy attempt to address the issue in my opinion.īy spending a lot of time in Arena, part of me thinks the mode was set up for failure before it was even implemented. This does not mean that there is not a problem with CCC in Arena-this just is not the right solution. Honestly, I think CCC is one of the main reasons I play this game, it would be such a shame to have this removed from Arena. Even DaStallionDucky says that “My most memorable moments in SoT is the voice chat itself.” And he is not alone on that. This does not fix the spam in the text chat, especially if text-to-speech is enabled and is still cross crew compatible.įrom reading the forums, both this one and the previous insider forum, people have made it clear that they do not want this to be implemented into the main build of the game. Removing CCC would be a major hit towards competitive attitudes on a competitive game mode making it rather dull overall.įourthly, assuming that “limited to options provided by the game itself” means that players will still be able to use the pirate text wheel, this will further encourage people to spam the pirate text wheel as it will now be the primary method of CCC. I mean come on, who doesn’t like some good ol’ trash talk as long as it is done without crossing the line. Everyone loves beating another crew who was trash-talking in the lobby. Taking away CCC destroys competitive banter which gives liveliness and intensity into each match. Thirdly, removing CCC will diminish attempts to cultivate competitive attitudes which is the core value of the Arena format. Implementing this solution damages all future attempts at helping cultivate good sportsmanship in Arena. Not even a way for someone to laugh or make a joke for the whole lobby to hear. ![]() There will be no more comments players could make like “Wow, nice shots man.” or “You guys are a really good crew.” No way for other crews to tell players how they could improve. Secondly, removing CCC eliminates any attempt at establishing positive CCC, which can lead to great friendly relationships. The lobby can be dull when queue times are long this change would take away another element of liveliness. Removing CCC will make lobbies feel sterile, cold, and unlively. I believe that while this might be partially true, it also hurts the overall experience players could have in Arena. ![]() The position Rare has established for removing CCC is that it will make Arena lobbies a “more welcoming multiplayer experience within Arena”. I believe that it is beneficial to make an argument for why removing CCC should NOT be the solution. I believe cross crew communication (CCC) is primarily a problem in Arena due to lobby design and game moderation and there are other strategic solutions to address this problem than removing CCC almost entirely. This feature in and of itself adds so much content to the game and Arena is no exception. Examine Sea of Thieves streamers for example: If a streamer comes across a player using an open mic/hot mic, that suddenly becomes their entire focus, and next thing you know they have great content and a YouTube video titled something along the lines of "We came across a hot-mic-er!" People love this feature in this game and to my understanding, open mic is turned on by default when you make a new account. I have spent a considerable amount of time in Adventure and Arena, and one thing I can say is that the cross crew communication on this game is golden. I have been playing Sea of Thieves off and on since launch. By the length of this post, I am sure you can tell that I am passionate about this game and feel very strongly about this topic in particular. Before I start I would like to thank the Rare team for striving to make Arena more welcoming and desirable for the Sea of Thieves player base.
